AI calling cost per qualified lead is the total cost within a declared scope divided by verified unique qualified leads. Define both parts before comparing providers. A cheap minute, a connected call and a qualified enquiry measure different things.

Use the qualified-lead calculator with the assumptions worksheet. The tool extends the existing pilot budget model with acquisition and downstream human follow-up costs. Its inputs are scenarios, not promised conversion rates.

Choose the denominator first

Write a qualification rubric that a salesperson can review: intended service, supported geography, expressed need and an agreed next action may be relevant, depending on the business. Avoid treating a caller's politeness or call duration as purchase intent. Store evidence and a reviewer for disputed outcomes.

Count a lead once in the cohort even if it receives multiple attempts. Keep attempts, connections, unique people reached, verified qualified leads and sales in separate columns. If duplicates cannot be resolved, disclose that limitation rather than reporting an exact CPQL.

Declare the cost scope

Include supplier usage, applicable minimum commitment, setup allocation, integration work, extra carrier or storage charges, review time and sales follow-up. For a blended acquisition CPQL, add the declared share of ad spend. For an incremental calling CPQL, show acquisition separately. Neither label should conceal costs.

The existing pilot model handles the usage floor as the larger of usage and a credit minimum, rather than adding both. That rule only applies when the contract actually provides credits; a separate subscription must be included as an additional cost. Confirm billing increments and failed-attempt charges against the dated quote.

Work a fictional example

Suppose a fictional pilot costs ₹12,000 before tax for supplier and integration work, ₹3,000 for review, ₹6,000 for sales follow-up and ₹9,000 in allocated acquisition. With 60 verified unique qualified leads, blended CPQL is ₹30,000 / 60 = ₹500. Calling and human-work CPQL excluding acquisition is ₹21,000 / 60 = ₹350. These are invented teaching inputs.

If only 30 leads qualify at the same cost, blended CPQL becomes ₹1,000. If none qualify, CPQL is undefined and the report must show zero qualified outcomes plus ₹30,000 spent. The calculator represents that result explicitly instead of displaying a misleading zero.

Test the assumptions that change the decision

Vary connection rate, duration and qualification rate independently. Do not assume that doubling attempts doubles unique qualified people. Review whether lower connection rates also change billable attempts, staff effort and cohort composition. Display before-tax operating cost separately from supplier tax and avoid adding tax to internal labour by default.

Use observed cohort results after the pilot, with a fixed maturity window for callbacks and qualification review. Compare similar lead sources and disclose exclusions. A lower CPQL is useful only if qualification is consistent and downstream outcomes remain credible. This calculator supports planning and reconciliation; it does not estimate keyword demand, guarantee lead volume or predict revenue.

Frequently asked questions

What is cost per qualified lead?

It is the declared cost scope divided by unique leads that satisfy a documented qualification rubric. State whether acquisition, staff time and setup are included.

What if no leads qualify?

Report no qualified outcomes and the full cost. Do not display zero cost per qualified lead or divide by zero.

Is a connected call a qualified lead?

No. Connection, qualification, completed callback and sale are separate outcomes requiring their own evidence.
